Free Meta Tags Analyzer — Check SEO & Social Meta Tags
Meta tags are the invisible signals in your HTML head that tell search engines and social platforms how to understand and display your content. A missing canonical tag can cause duplicate content issues. A truncated title tag loses clicks. Missing Open Graph tags result in ugly social shares. A noindex meta tag accidentally left in production keeps pages out of Google entirely. This free Meta Tags Analyzer fetches any URL and shows you every meta tag — SEO, social, and structural — in a clean, reviewable format.
Enter any URL and the analyzer retrieves the page's complete head section, extracting the title tag, meta description, canonical URL, robots meta, viewport, charset, all Open Graph properties, and all Twitter Card properties. Each tag is displayed with its value, an assessment of whether it follows best practices, and specific suggestions for improvement.
This tool is invaluable during site audits. Run it on every key page of a website to identify missing tags, overly long titles, missing canonical URLs, duplicate descriptions, missing og:image tags, and any other common meta tag issues that are easy to overlook.
Meta Tag Best Practices
Title tag. 50–60 characters. Contains primary keyword. Each page has a unique title. Format: Primary Keyword | Brand Name.
Meta description. 120–158 characters. Contains keywords naturally. Compelling call-to-action. Unique per page. Does not start with the page title.
Canonical URL. Every indexable page must have a self-referencing canonical tag to prevent duplicate content issues from URL parameters and protocol/www variations.
Robots meta. Should be "index, follow" for all pages you want Google to index. Check for accidental "noindex" on important pages — a common cause of pages disappearing from search results.
